Southbourne on Sea Business Association
Samantha sits on the management team for her local business association SoSBA. This represents the business community of Southbourne on Sea and is a vibrant, cutting-edge, and dedicated support body for the wonderfully eclectic local businesses in the BH5 and BH6 area.
Samantha and the other members of the management team work on a personal, one-to-one level with all their members, providing networking and B2B opportunities in an effort to facilitate growth, generate a common voice, and increase footfall.
It’s about making sure that businesses are heard, supported with positive direct action and have a strong voice across the borough through their close affiliation with Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce and direct work with the Council.
Southbourne on Sea is a unique and specialist area and is a warm community welcoming visitors all year round. Through the creation of a resilient and united front, Southbourne-On-Sea can continue to thrive as a hub for independent traders, both old and new.
Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce
Samantha is a member of Bournemouth Chamber Trade and Commerce and has recently become an Ambassador for the Chamber. An Ambassador provides support to the Chamber Executive at events and promotion of the Chamber wherever they go. This provides real insight to how the BCTC works and a good grounding for future Executives to come through.

What is Parliament Week?
Parliament Week is a UK-wide programme of events and activities that inspire, engage and connect people with parliamentary democracy. Parliament Week 2013 will run from 15-21 November.
Members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords take an active part in Parliament Week. Our partners support the week by running events and activities that form a major part of our programme.
Parliament Week is delivered by the House of Commons with the support of the House of Lords.
Women in Democracy
Part of the Parliament Week programme this year is focussing on Women in Democracy – celebrating women’s contribution to UK democratic life and exploring how women’s voices can be better heard.
Women’s participation in UK democratic life is crucial to ensure that it is well informed, representative and diverse.
By focussing on Women in Democracy we aim to:
- Inspire women to play a greater role in UK democratic life
- increase public awareness of the many ways that both women and men can get involved and get their voices heard in the UK Parliament and democratic life more broadly
- increase public awareness of women’s contribution to democratic life in the UK
